FOUNDATION STATEMENT OF THE JANUARY 14TH NATIONAL FRONT OF THE NATIONAL PROGRESSIVE AND DEMOCRATIC FORCES OF TUNISIA

To affirm and ensure our participation in the revolution of our people, who fought for their right to freedom and national dignity, this people who sacrificed dozens of martyrs and thousands of wounded and arrested, and in order to complete and secure the victory against both domestic and foreign enemies and against those who are attempting to hijack the sacrifices of the people, have constituted "The January 14th Front” as a political structure to promote and ensure the revolution to achieve its goals and fight and stop the forces of counterrevolution; this front is a structure that brings together national, progressive and democratic parties, forces and organizations.

Its objectives and urgent tasks are:

1. To bring down the current Ghannouchi government or any government that includes the people connected to the former regime, who carried out anti-national and anti-people policies and served the interests of the ousted president.

2. To dissolve the party of the former president, the RCD, and confiscate its offices, goods, financial assets and funds, because these belong to the people.

3. To form a transitional government that enjoys the confidence of the people, the progressive political forces and social organizations, trade unions and youth.

4. To dissolve the House of Representatives, advisers and all institutions of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, to dismantle the entire political structure of the old regime and prepare for the election of a constituent assembly to draft a new democratic constitution and a new legal framework for public life within a year that guarantees the political, economic and cultural rights of the people.

5. To dissolve the political police and pass a new security policy that respects human rights and laws.

6. To hold accountable all those who can be proved to have plundered the property of the people, committed crimes against them, such as repression, imprisonment, torture and murder whether this be by ordering, organizing or executing, as well as those for whom misconduct or poor management of public property can be proven.

7. To expropriate the property of the entire former ruling family, of people close to, of their associates and of all politicians who used their position to enrich themselves at the expense of the people.

8. To secure and create jobs for the unemployed and to take urgent steps to ensure unemployment payments, social and health coverage, and improve the purchasing power of people.

9. To build a national economy to serve the people, where the most vital and strategic sectors are under state control, to nationalize all the companies have been privatized, and to apply an economic and social policy that breaks with the liberal capitalist approach.

10. To promote civil and individual liberties, especially freedom of demonstration, organization, speech, press, information and belief, to free all detainees and to enact the amnesty law.

11. To send from the January 14 Front a welcome for the support of the masses and the progressive forces in the Arab world and the world in general and to invite them to continue supporting them.

12. To reject normalization with the Zionist entity and to criminalize it, while supporting national liberation movements in the Arab world and the world in general.

13. To call on all the masses, progressive and patriotic forces to continue the mobilization and the struggle by all legitimate means, and especially the demonstrations in the streets until the proposed objectives are achieved.

14. To greet all committees, associations and popular organizations, and call on them to expand their circle of participation in all public affairs and in all areas of daily life.
