We have found that streaming movies do not
work well enough with dial up modems. It's a technology that requires high speed
connections such as DSL, Cable, or Lan connections. Sometimes, even with high
speed internet access, you may experience extensive buffering - the process of
downloading enough of the movie to begin viewing it on your system- when viewing
the streaming movies. Sometimes the movie will begin to play then revert to
buffering from time to time during the movie. It could be a number of factors.
The most likely reason is that there is a lot of internet congestion or the ISP
is not able to keep up with the streaming demands. The movies should work
most of the time when the internet conditions are right and you have a fast
enough connection, ie, dsl or cable modem. Buffering is probably less of a
problem during non peak internet times, perhaps late night or at any given
time during the day or evening. If you experience problems, try it again a little later. We recommend using Windows Media Player 7 for the IAC
Boston streaming movies and a dsl or cable modem or lan
connection. 56k and 28k modems probably do not work.
