NYC: Thurs., Feb. 14: Final showing of MUMIA film
A special appeal from Noelle Hanrahhan, Prison Radio and producer of
"Long Distance Revolutionary: A Journey with Mumia
Abu-Jamal"
You
know Mumia. You know his words, you know his voice, you know
his struggle. And you know that his life's story has been obscured by
the controversy of his case, by the vindictive and fallacious
narrative told about him by media outlets, both mainstream and right-wing.
This new documentary film is here to recast that narrative, to tell
the
true
story of Mumia from his childhood, to the dawn of his
political consciousness (as you know at a very young age), to his early
career as a journalist, to his incredible output of books and
commentaries from Death Row and beyond.
This
film tells the story of a deeply loving man who longs for
justice because of the love. And audiences are feeling it – our
opening weekend in NYC garnered an incredible turnout that earned us a
second week running and the ranking of #3 in the country for independently
released motion pictures.
Now
we're in the final days of showings at NYC's Cinema Village and
we want
to exit with a bang. We want to fill the house through
Thursday February 14th. Every ticket sold aids our efforts to open the film
in more
and more theaters around the country. More theaters showing
this film means more audiences who can be inspired and provoked by
this powerful story and this vital man.
Through Thursday Feb.
