Mumia Abu-Jamal: Press Conference Regarding Documents Filed in the State Courts

Sept 6, 2001--On this Friday, September 7th there will be a press conference regarding the documents that are being filed in the State Courts. These documents are to explain to Judge Dembe the importance of having the new evidence heard in the State Courts. At the press conference we will also be discussing the Sept. 15th Mass Demo. Anyone that can possibly attend this press conference should. We need to let the media know that support for Mumia is only growing. The press conference will be at 4:30pm at the Municipal Services building which is near the North West corner of City Hall by the Rizzo statue. Please let others know about the press conference and encourage them to come out, this is very important!
Also, the anti-death penalty program is coming together. Please spread the word. It is on Sept. 14th (The day before the mass demo) at 6pm at the Friends Center at 1515 Cherry St. The focus will be on how Mumia's case relates to other death penalty cases, mainly focusing on Imam Jamil (formerly H. Rap Brown) who's trial is coming up and he is facing the death penalty.
Our actions for Mumia on Sept 15th are in solidarity with the actions going on for Imam Jamil in Atlanta on Sept. 15th . We will also be looking at the history of the death penalty, focusing on Sacco and Vanzetti and taking a closer look at the Herrera case where the U.S. supreme court decided that it is constitutional to execute an innocent man as long as he recieved a "fair trial".
