Call For Support of those arrested in front of the u.s. supreme kourt at the Feb 28, 2000 civil disobedience and demo for Mumia

Monday May 22, 2000, and possibly Tuesday 10 and 10:30 am dc superior court 500 indiana ave nw (judiciary square metro)

Some of those arrested in front of the u.s. supreme kourt at the Feb 28, 2000 civil disobedience and demo for Mumia and against the death penalty are in the process of being tried for "obstructing passage on the capitol grounds."

These supporters of Mumia are continuing their challenge to the system by refusing to plead out. They have successfully obtained jury trials realizing they risk serious penalties if they should lose their cases.

The 12 demonstrators are being tried in two separate jury trials. Both trials are happening on Monday 5-22-00.

11 defendants are being tried together. They are being ably defended by Gilda Sherrod-Ali. Monday is the second day of their trial. On Friday, the jury was selected and the first of three prosecution witnesses was presented. Their trial resumes at 10:30 AM Monday, May 22, room 111.

The 12th defendant, from Baltimore, is courageously defending herself and is being counseled by civil rights lawyer Mark Goldstein. Her trial will begin with jury selection at 10:00AM Monday in room 302.

It usually has a strong positive effect on a jury to have people that support the defendants in the courtroom.

If it is at all compatible with your schedule, please come to kourt Monday morning. Both trials will probably last at least through the day and possibly into Tuesday. If you can't attend throughout, please come when you can.
