Germany Actions for Mumia on April 24, 2004
This is an overview of activities planned for Mumia Abu-Jamal's 50th birthday in Germany.
The first big Party with reading texts for Mumia will be in Berlin by end of this week, Saturday 17 -
On the 23th there will be a concert in Lahr in the Black Forest.
On the 24th there will be a party with djs in Saarbrücken .
In Heidelberg we will repeat our public action against death penalty by way of showing symbolic executions - some 7, 8, 9 people standing in a half circle, black cloths, black caps covering the face except eye slits, a drum beating off the seconds, a white execution-victim that will be hanged, stoned, poisoned, shot. It was cross to act and to look at - photos follow this week - when we did it three weeks ago.
On the 25th we will have our thoughts and music project for Mumia - a young actress reading a collection of Mumia's texts -varying from Death Blossoms's very personal texts to some of the columns. A dj will accompany her. Both of them are very good - not just trying but able to perform. So we are looking forward to it. …
On the 24th will be the opening of an exhibition in Berlin - with art and collages about Mumia's life from the Pupils for Mumia in Hamburg - with music and a documentation about the honorary citizenship in Paris.
And finally we will have a big and rather expensive advertisement over the length of a whole page in a big German daily on the 24th.
And of course the birthday date shall NOT be the last event-date for Mumia in this year - we are planning a solidarity concert in June with the German network for Mumia.
