Solidarity Statements from Heidelberg, Germany and Managua, Nicaragua for the Nov. 2, 2002, Demo for Mumia

Heidelberg, Germany: Message to the Demonstration at City Hall, Philadelphia, 11/02/02

Greetings to your demonstration for the freedom of Mumia Abu-Jamal and against death, death in the form of domestic state repression and war abroad! Greetings to Julia Wright and the French delegation! Greetings to the incarcerated innocent prisoners, the MOVE 9, Imam Jamil Amin, and Leonard Peltier! Greetings to the members of the Africa family, greetings to Mumia Abu-Jamal and Wadiya Jamal!

Unfortunately we cannot be with you physically today, but you are very much in our minds. The French delegation that crossed the Atlantic to fight for the freedom of Mumia and so many other victims of a relentlessly vindictive system of criminal justice is testimony to the spirit of international solidarity.

In the French revolution, they called it "the brotherhood of men". Today, we call it the solidarity, or if you will, the siblinghood, of all human beings. But the spirit remains the same, and the question posed by the great French revolution remains the same: Do we want to live as a community of free human beings, or do we want to live under the rule of the master, with all the misery, all the wars and all the repression and terror that follows from this?

As Mumia has said, the choice, as every choice, is ours. "To fight for freedom or encagement, liberty or slavery, life or death."

And as he has also said, "Spread the word of life far and wide, talk to friends, read and open their eyes."

We in Germany will certainly try our very best to do so to reach our common goal:

Free Mumia - down with the death penalty!
Set the captives free!

Nicaragua: Solidarity Greetings to Mumia Abu-Jamal from the Healthcare Workers of Nicaragua

The healthcare workers of Nicaragua, members of FETSALUD, send warm solidarity greetings to Mumia Abu-Jamal, to the French delegation, to the International Concerned Family & Friends of Mumia, and to the NYC Free Mumia Coalition.

We have been following Mumia's case for many years now and are firmly convinced of his absolute innocence. We demand that Mumia be unconditionally and immediately released from prison. We know that Mumia is the victim of a frameup, especially since Arnold Beverly, a former mob hitman, has confessed to the murder of Daniel Faulkner. Mr. Beverly's confession is entirely believable, especially when he points out that corrupt Philadelphia police arranged to have Officer Faulkner killed because he was interfering with their illegal activities in the Center City area at that time.

We have the great pleasure of listening to Mumia's commentaries regularly on the radio in Nicaragua, and his messages are truly urgent at this time of unbridled imperialist aggression against the people of Iraq and the peoples of the world.

We know about the blatantly racist Judge Sabo and his remark: "Yeah, and I'm gonna help 'em fry the n***r!" This alone is sufficient reason for Mumia's conviction to be overturned and for him to be released immediately.

Mumia is the voice of the voiceless, just as Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador was before his assassination. We cannot allow his voice to be silenced. We will continue to struggle until Mumia is free, until capitalism, imperialism, political prisoners and prisons themselves no longer exist.

WE ARE ALL MUMIA ABU-JAMAL!
