Mumia scheduled to have a hearing in State Court
Mumia will be in Court at the Philadelphia Criminal Justice Center on Friday August 17 along with his lawyers to hear oral arguments on the question of whether Mumia will be granted a new post conviction relief hearing. . The Criminal Justice center is across from the east side of City Hall at Broad and Market Street. Demonstrate on the East side of City Hall— Friday, August 17. Demonstration August 18, location to be announced.

FROM THE DESK OF THE INTERNATIONAL SECRETARY
As of today July 18th, [2001] The Philadelphia Criminal Justice Center says that Mumia is scheduled to have a hearing in State Court on August 17th. The 17th is the anniversary of Mumia's first execution date in 1995 and also is Marcus Garvey's birthday. This is as of now a tentatively scheduled hearing and we are trying to confirm that this is happening and whether Mumia is going to be in court or not. This hearing is under the State Courts; and stems from papers filed by Mumia's new lawyers: Marlene Kamish, Eliot Grossman, and Nick Brown to take the appeal back to the state courts based on ineffectiveness of Counsel-Leonard Weinglass and Dan Williams.
