IAPSCC hails and supports people’s struggle in Egypt

Manik Mukherjee, General Secretary of International Anti-imperialist and Peoples' Solidarity Coordinating Committee (IAPSCC), has issued the following statement :

IAPSCC salutes the people of Egypt for their determined struggle to end the 30-year long tyrannical rule of Mubarak having a tacit understanding with Israel and who was backed by the imperialist powers, esp. the USA, all these years. Inspired by the example of Tunisian people’s struggle and victory over dictatorial rulers, people in Egypt have taken to the streets for over one week defying curfew and planning still more powerful movement. In their fight against 30-year emergency rule, complete denial of civil liberties and democratic rights, unemployment and rising prices of food and essential commodities, people from all walks of life are organizing themselves in sustained and militant protest movements courageously confronting the notorious police and security forces braving death, injury, torture and incarceration. We wish success to the heroic struggle of Egyptian people to put an end to tyrannical rule and usher in a democratic process to provide an opportunity for choosing their own destiny. Their great struggle on just and legitimate demands demonstrates once again the strength of people’s unity and the immense significance of people getting organized in committees, which may give rise to a process through which ultimately evolves people’s own political power – a power that is invincible and no force however brutal and powerful can defeat. May the inspiring struggle of Egyptian people, their example of courage and perseverance, following close on the heels of Tunisian people’s struggle, further strengthen the unity and solidarity of oppressed people all over the world in the fight against imperialist intrigue and for democratic rights. Supporting this struggle of Egyptian people wholeheartedly we call on all freedom loving people throughout the world to come forward in support.
