The World Economic Crisis: Fighting for Education and public workers
- Discuss with representatives of the Cuban Workers Central Union and other
unions from countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our
Americas (ALBA). Find out how countries recovering from colonial devastation
conquer illiteracy and expand education; how continental integration advances
life for workers and poor; roots of migration/immigration.
- Learn about Cuba’s renown Latin America School of Medicine and the
U.S. students studying to be doctors there on full scholarship.
- What are students, teachers and public workers facing in other Latin
American and Caribbean countries like Puerto Rico, Mexico, Chile?
- Discuss the student debt crisis, the school-to-prison pipeline, freedom
schools, the Librotraficante struggle and your issues.
- Who are the Cuban 5, unjustly held in U.S. prisons for 14 years? Why unions
around the world are saying, “Pres. Obama, free them now!”
