The heroic occupation of the Wisconsin state Capitol in Madison has electrified the entire U.S. labor movement, which has suffered decades-long attacks in the form of devastating layoffs; plant closings; loss of wages, health care benefits, pensions and much more.Now right-wing, Tea Party-supported governors like Scott Walker in Wisconsin – on behalf of big business and Wall Street – are attempting to decimate the right of all workers to unionize with reactionary legislation like the “budget repair bill” that would deny workers the basic right to collective bargaining.
Tens of thousands of workers and students and their families have liberated the Madison Capitol for almost two weeks to demand “Kill the bill” and “Union rights are human rights". Their fighting spirit and actions have inspired people throughout the U.S. and worldwide.
There has been concrete solidarity shown by vast donations of food and water. Supporters have traveled from as far away as California to stand with these courageous people of all nationalities and genders, who are fighting for the rights of all workers.
It has even been reported that activists in Egypt—who liberated Tahrir Square—have ordered pizzas delivered to the Madison occupation!
The Bail Out the People Movement has sent organizers from Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, Ralleigh/ Durham, New York and elsewhere to stand with the workers and students in Madison to show solidarity—and to tell of the real day-to-day developments. BOPM has sent out national emails and used all available technology to provide continual news of what is happening inside and outside the Capitol.

Our activists, youth and seniors, have been sleeping on the Capitol floor for ten days. However, it is costing Bail Out the People Movement thousands of dollars to provide airfare, transportation to and from the Capitol, food, text messaging, cell phone calls, and to purchase supplies to make banners and placards, run off leaflets for rallies and demonstrations, and do what is necessary.
This is where your contribution can help defray the costs of these expenses.
