CHALLENGE TO GENOCIDE: LET IRAQ LIVE
CHALLENGE TO GENOCIDE: LET IRAQ LIVE is an important new book was rushed to get into print by September, 1998. Since we returned from Iraq in May, we worked long hours to gather the reports of the delegates and to provide up-to-date new analysis.
The new book features articles by former Attorney General Ramsey Clark, Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, Reverend Lucius Walker, and members of American Muslims for Global Peace and Justice, along with the observations of the rest of our diverse group. CHALLENGE TO GENOCIDE: LET IRAQ LIVE includes powerful photos and an inclusive list of the many organizations nationally working to end sanctions
The book we published in 1995, The Children Are Dying, the Impact of Sanctions on Iraq reached many thousands of activists world-wide. It served as a handbook for an emerging movement. But it is vital to constantly publish new material. We need to expand our impact beyond the many community meetings currently occurring around the country. This book will give to those who are not able to travel to Iraq the knowledge they need to spread the word.
The US and UN have allowed this genocide to continue for eight long years. It must stop now-and you can help. This educational resource will answer the lies that the US government uses to justify murder.
By exposing the truth about the situation in Iraq-the severely malnourished people, the empty pharmacy shelves, the desperate people-that our movement can spread throughout the US and put an end to this genocide. The majority of the people in this country are completely unaware of the criminal U.S. role in this grave humanitarian crisis.

New Companion Video on Iraq: Let Iraq Live
The Iraq Sanctions Challenge Defies U.S.-Sponsored Genocide
A powerful video by award-winning filmmaker Gloria La Riva, "Let Iraq Live" portrays the incredible journey of 84 people from the United States who risked 12-years imprisonment to take millions of dollars of medicine to the Iraqi people.
Led by Ramsey Clark, Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, and Rev. Lucius Walker in May 1998, the Iraq Sanctions Challenge is the story of civil disobedience on an international scale.
"Let Iraq Live" exposes the human toll of US/UN sanctions on Iraqi society. More than 1.5 million civilians, mostly children, have died from disease and malnutrition in the last eight years, according to UNICEF. The searing images of human suffering captured in this dramatic video will likely turn even the casual viewer into a political activist.
An excellent eduactional tool for schools, mosques, and churches. Gloria La Riva's earlier work on Iraq, "Genocide by Sanctions," received acclaim at the 1998 San Luis Obispo International Film Festival.
