School children outside school Children and teachers at the School of Intilaq, a grade school in the Al Silakh district of Baghdad. Because of the sanctions, children don't even have desks--they bring pieces of wood from home to sit on. In the picture broken windows are visible. They are unable to be repaired because the sanctions prohibit the importation of the necessary parts.(credit: Sara Flounders 1/2000) ISC III group photo Delegates of the third Iraq Sanctions Challenge (ISC) included more than 50 people from 15 states and 5 countries, who traveled to say that "People from the U.S. and around the world say Stop the Sanctions and Bombing Against Iraq."(credit: Sara Flounders 1/2000)
