The Turkish government decided Oct. 12 to permit U.S. fighter-bombers to launch attacks on Syrian targets from Incirlik Air Force Base near the Turkish-Syrian border. This decision marked the latest escalation of the U.S.-led “war on ISIS.” It is a further step toward a major U.S. invasion into Syria and Iraq....

The six-month nuclear agreement among Iran and the “5+1” countries has been described as a breakthrough, a departure, a disaster or a betrayal, depending on the speaker. Much of the language of the agreement reached in Geneva on Nov. 24 reeks of imperialist arrogance....

he 11th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan was not forgotten by anti-imperialist activists inside the United States. From New York City to Los Angeles, and in dozens of cities in between, the ongoing war and occupation were denounced at actions held Oct. 5-7. Initiated by the United National Antiwar Coalition and related organizations, the series of protests demanded “U.S./NATO out of Afghanistan!” “Hands off Syria!” “Don’t attack Iran!” “No more drone attacks!” and “No sanctions!” Following are outlines of actions in several cities....

We are once again on the verge of another disastrous war in the Middle East. The United States and its allies in Europe and the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia and Qatar, are consciously pushing Syria toward a destructive civil war. The objective is to bring down the Assad regime, an ally of the Iranian government, as a stepping-stone toward further isolation of Iran and preparation of the ground for a military attack on that country....
Demonstrations against U.S./NATO military intervention in Syria were held in at least 29 cities coast-to-coast in the United States during the week ending July 1. The United National Antiwar Coalition had called the protests and demanded: Hands off Syria and Iran! End the drone wars! and Money for jobs, education and health care, not endless war! Following are brief descriptions of some of these actions....
New Delhi, India, was the venue for the fourth BRICS Summit, which convened on March 29. With President Barack Obama set to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on March 4, the Council on Foreign Relations and Foreign Affairs Magazine, two imperialist think tanks where U.S. strategists express their opinions and analysis, scheduled a “debate” on March 1 in New York City. The question to debate was, is it “Time to Attack Iran?”...
Voice your opposition to this phony debate on whether military attack or sanctions and sabotage should be used to attack Iran. Both sides of this debate are promoting war with Iran and the death and destruction of yet another country in the Middle East. The only debate is what weapons to use....
We are in very dangerous times, and we have to do everything we can to prevent another war—this time against Iran.  Almost every day we hear about new sanctions, new threats, new promises that “all options are on the table.” It seems like the general public is complacent about this and do not  understand the severe consequences –possibly World War III....
Anti-war organizations from across the United States and 6 other countries came together on Saturday, Feb. 4, to protest the rising crescendo of threats against Iran. In more than 30 states and 80 cities, large and small, groups joined forces to raise four key demands. "No war, no sanctions, no intervention, no assassinations!" was the slogan on the lead banner of the New York demonstration, which was sponsored by an ad hoc committee of several groups. Many placards and hand-made signs also pointed to Wall Street and the banks as the real danger, not Iran. The corporate media have been reporting for weeks that the Israeli regime is weighing an attack on Iran aimed at dismantling its nuclear program. Yet even former U.S. intelligence officers point out that Iran's nuclear development is entirely peaceful; it is not building any nuclear weapons. (See "Divining the Truth About Iran" by Ray McGovern, published by commondreams.org.) Yet totally unsubstantiated claims to the contrary form the basis on which Israel, which itself has a large nuclear arsenal and has been armed and financed by the U.S., is now publicly claiming its right to launch a military attack on Iran....
The Feb. 4 actions are aimed to condemn US, it's EU allies and Israel’s war threats, covert and overt operations, sanctions, assassinations and media propaganda of repeated lies. This in short constitutes the current policies of the hegemonic powers, headed by US government, against the peace-loving people of Iran....

A broad spectrum of U.S.-based anti-imperialist and anti-war organizations agreed on a Jan. 17 conference call to hold coordinated protests across the country on Saturday, Feb. 4. The demands will be: “No war, no sanctions, no intervention, no assassinations against Iran.” The ad-hoc group that took part in the call decided that although there are only two weeks to organize, it will invite anti-war forces around the world to join in, if possible, so that this emergency action could develop into a global day of action....

There is growing apprehension that through miscalculation, deliberate provocation or a staged false flag operation, a U.S. war with Iran is imminent. The dangerous combination of top U.S. officials’ public threats, the Pentagon’s massive military deployment, continued drone flights and industrial sabotage against Iran provides an ominous warning. The corporate media have been more than willing to cheer industrial sabotage, computer viruses and targeted assassinations. War maneuvers with Israel scheduled for mid-January were suddenly postponed Jan. 15 until May or later....
Another Iranian Scientist, Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, has been assassinated in Iran by a car bomb.  This is the fifth Iranian scientist targeted by assassins working in Iran in two years. Under the cover of a bogus report by a United Nations agency, the U.S. and its allies are laying the groundwork for a military attack on Iran. In order to counter this danger to humanity, the International Action Center would like to expose the perfidious role of the agency in question, the International Atomic Energy Agency. The IAEA is supposed to be a neutral investigator of nuclear development around the world. Instead, it has turned into a tool for imperialist aggression....
In order to give an idea of the potential of the USSR in its efforts to maintain parity with the United States in this sphere, we only need to point out that when its disintegration occurred in 1991, in Byelorussia there were 81 nuclear warheads, in Kazakhstan 1400 and in the Ukraine approximately 5000; all these went over to the Russian Federation, the only state capable of sustaining its immense cost, in order to maintain independence....
In a desperate attempt to cover up its absolute inability to solve the economic and political crisis that has engulfed the world, the U.S. ruling class and the U.S. government have resorted to a tried-and-true method of diverting mass sentiment: war frenzy....
A worsening economic crisis; three disastrous wars that have killed millions of people and cost trillions of dollars stolen from essential programs for OIL, OIL, OIL and the U.S. corporate drive for markets, profit and empire – this is why the U.S. government has FALSELY accused the Iranian government of sponsoring a terrorist plot in the United States....
The antiwar movement is back on the streets. Thousands marched on April 9 in New York and April 10 in San Francisco. These demonstrations represented an important step forward for the United National Antiwar Committee and the antiwar movement as a whole. The new antiwar movement needs to oppose the US foreign wars but also defend the domestic victims of the "war on terror," the Muslims who are being attacked. It must connect the dots between the money spent on war and the attacks on unions and cuts to education and needed programs. This is what these demonstrations on April 9 and 10 did....
Three thousand activists demonstrated against U.S. wars abroad on April 10 in San Francisco. Protesters rallied in Dolores Park in the city’s Mission district both before and after a march through the community. The United National Antiwar Committee sponsored the actions. Those who attended were buoyed by what they described as “the renewal of the anti-war movement....
Thousands of people from virtually all sectors of U.S. workers, the oppressed and youths gathered in Union Square in New York City April 9 and marched, shouted and drummed their anti-war slogans for two miles to Foley Square in downtown Manhattan. As this largest anti-war march in New York in years stretched for 20 blocks down Broadway, it passed by thousands of New Yorkers busy shopping, who smiled, cheered and waved at what can only be described as the new face of a vibrant movement to confront the war-makers....

When the campaign “Solidarity with Iran – SI!” was initiated in mid October 2010 through an appeal under the same name, the initiators – House of Latin America (HOLA), an NGO based in Iran - were confident of the promising prospect of the campaign.  Now, the campaign's success in a short period to gain the support of 100s of activists and 10s of organizations involved in the international peace movement indicates the correctness of such assessment....

n Aug. 6, 1945, the U.S. B-29 bomber Enola Gay dropped a four-ton uranium bomb on Hiroshima, only to follow that horrific attack by unleashing a plutonium bomb on Nagasaki three days later. The cities became infernos.

By the end of 1945, more than 250,000 people — men, women, children, mainly civilians — were dead. Many were incinerated instantly. People within a one-mile radius of Hiroshima were vaporized. Thousands died agonizing deaths soon after from burns, injuries and radiation poisoning. In subsequent years, more deaths occurred from cancers and other radiation-related diseases....

These actions will demand the immediate withdrawal of U.S. and other occupation troops and mercenaries from Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan....
On June 18, a U.S. carrier group quietly slipped through the Suez Canal into the Red Sea, headed toward the Persian Gulf. The Harry S. In the final two weeks of June we have seen a number of serious developments in the Middle East involving the United States, Israel, and the Islamic Republic of Iran. While almost completely ignored by the U.S. mainstream press, there is considerable alarm around the world and especially in the Middle East. Some of these developments are unprecedented and could denote a sharp escalation in the U.S./NATO and Israeli campaign against Iran, or even all-out war....
A month-long meeting, involving 189 countries, is underway at the United Nations. It’s the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review. This review of a nuclear disarmament treaty that went into effect 40 years ago occurs every 5 years. Its stated purpose was disarmament by the countries holding nuclear weapons, stopping the spread or proliferation of nuclear weapons to other countries, and the right of all countries to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes....
Today the big question facing the peace and justice movement is whether Washington is planning a military attack against Iran. Shocking as such a thought might be, this is exactly what is being debated and contemplated at the highest levels of American politics.

The Obama administration came into office promising a break with George Bush’s policies. Many progressives voted for him because of that. He promised change and dialogue with Iran instead of confrontation. In June 2009 he traveled to Cairo in a highly publicized trip and made a beautiful speech calling for “a new beginning with Muslims” and mutual respect. He even questioned the policies of his predecessors, including the CIA-engineered coup in 1953 in Iran, and promised dialogue....

Biden’s threat came during a full corporate media offensive against Iran. Its timing - and the new threats - should serve as an alert to the entire progressive and anti-war movement. U.S. aircraft carriers, destroyers, nuclear submarines, jet aircraft and drones clog the seas that wash up on Iranian shores. In light of the events of this summer, and the ongoing propoganda war against Iran, it is important to remember that John Bolton told the Telegraph of London in 2007 that a US military attack on Iran would "be a 'last option' after economic sanctions and attempts to foment a popular revolution had failed."...

The ongoing crisis in Iran following the recent presidential elections has been a source of much misunderstanding and confusion in antiwar and progressive organizations, particularly in the United States.  In the face of ongoing threats of military action against Iran, especially recent remarks by Vice President Joe Biden that gave a green light for an Israeli attack and this week's visit by U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to Israel, the antiwar movement must be clear in its opposition to any attack, or to the propaganda used to justify such an attack....
The conflict in Iran that opened up with the June presidential elections there has had an impact on the progressive and anti-imperialist movement worldwide, including in the United States. Misunderstanding the events has created some confusion in anti-war ranks. This is especially dangerous after Vice President Joe Biden on July 5 gave a virtual green light to an Israeli attack on Iran. The anti-war movement must stay alert to protest any move in that direction....
If the U.S. government was interested in supporting democracy or in building respect for the will of the people in a democratic election, it should have started by respecting the outcome of the 2006 Palestinian election. Commentary on Iran
The ten days of turmoil in the aftermath of Iran’s presidential election sharply divided world public opinion into two opposite poles: those who believed in and supported Iran’s sovereignty and independence, mainly the working people of Iran and the peoples of the developing countries, on one hand, and those whose interests lie in believing in U.S. hegemony in the Middle East and the domination of monopoly capital over the world’s human and natural resources, on the other....
As the world watches, massive demonstrations in Iran -- some say the largest since the 1979 Revolution -- are denouncing the results of the June 12 presidential election. Official announcements that incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad garnered nearly 63 percent of the vote are being met with cries of "fraud" by supporters of his principal challenger, former Prime Minister Mir-Hossein....

The first thing to make clear about the Iranian election is that the U.S. and other imperialist states have no right to intervene. Bush’s open theft of the 2000 election in Florida?...

If bombs start falling on Iran, a world calamity will surely result. Recent news makes it clear why it is more important than ever that we take to the streets on August 2. According to press reports, President Bush has given the Israeli military the go-ahead to prepare for an imminent attack on Iran. Israel is armed, financed, and politically and diplomatically supported by Washington....
