A memorial service for Standing Deer is planned for Sunday, January 26 in Houston, TX. Standing Deer's family will receive visitors for the viewing beginning at 1:00 PM. The memorial service will begin at 3:00 PM.

Dear Fellow Activists,
We lost a great warrior for justice this week when Standing Deer was murdered in Houston. The memorial will be Sunday, January 26, at 3 PM. His daughter Vicky is here from Oklahoma and will have Standing Deer's body cremated and she'll take the ashes back to Oklahoma, his birth place.
Please attend the memorial, even if you only knew of Standing Deer or only had briefly met him. He was a truly remarkable man who became politicized when the federal government tried to get him to murder Leonard Peltier while the both of them were a federal prison together. He became a fighter for Native rights and for all the oppressed and will truly be missed by people on both sides on the razor wires of prison. His life should be an inspiration for us all because of the tenacity and courage Standing Deer showed in the face of the most brutal, racist and inhumane conditions.
