Parole Letters of Support for Standing Deer

Friday, November 05, 1999 10:55 AM

Please write a letter for Standing Deer. Leonard might not have survived the assination attempt if it were not for Standing Deer doing the right thing and exposing the plot to Leonard. Standing Deer is 77 and in very poor health. If he does not make parole this time he more than likely will not have another chance at it. He deserves to come home and spend his last years with friends

Standing Deer is in Pack One Prison in Navasota, Texas doing a life sentence for bank robbery. No one was killed or injured during the crime.

Even though Standing Deer experienced his spiritual rehabilitation more than 21 years ago, he still remains in the Iron house for almost 24 years. Why is he still in prison? Why does the Texas Department of Criminal Justice want people to imagine he is still a threat to society? The reason they want him to die in prison is because he had exposed the governmental conspiracy to assassinate Leonard Peltier.

Please tell the parole board and Governor Bush that even though Standing Deer did commit a crime many years ago he is no longer a threat to society.

He is old, diseased and spiritually rehabilitated. Let him finally come home, in February 2000.
