From a soldier about to be deployed to Iraq

I am an active duty soldier who was recently affected by the new Army wide stop loss policy. My unit was recently deployed to the middle east... at 110% strength. Those of us who were within a few weeks to a couple months of finishing our term of service have now been told that we will deploy to Iraq. Good news for the Reserves and National Guard right?
NO.
That the 142 will be in Iraq for 1 1/2 years is absurd. That we are even there is absurd. I had some of the best friends I've ever had in my life leave for a place where their presence will not be welcomed. I had no consoling words to tell them. Now I will be in the same position.
It is projected that we will be in Iraq to 2005 or 2006. Even if Guard and Reserve units come home, THEY WILL GO BACK. Please realize this.
Americans are afraid that if we do not continue action in Iraq we will be attacked by terrorists. With the end of the Vietnam war, did communists assault our shores and neighborhoods? It is the Iraqi peoples' country. Let them have it.
Contact your senator or congressman and let them know that you do not support the war in Iraq. Let your soldiers know they can do the same and provide them with information to do so. We are used to being ordered around that sometimes we forget we DO have the ability to voice our opinions.
