URGENT! Protest Conditions on Death Row Every Wednesday in March, 2002
Take a day off work, call in sick, use your Spring Break, do what ever it takes, but be there at least one Wednesday in March, 2002!
URGENT ACTION: PROTEST AT TEXAS' DEATH ROW
SUPPORT THE STRUGGLE BY THE MEN ON DEATH ROW TO STOP THE TORTURE !Who: Death Row families, friends, and loved ones and all abolitionists and human rights proponents.
(Those wanting to visit from 8 AM -12 PM that day can meet us outside after your visit.) If you can't come one Wednesday, come another. Legislators will be invited for one of the weeks, religious leaders and clergy will be invited for another. Students have spring break in March, so bring them along whenever they are out of school.
What: Demonstrate against the worsening conditions facing death row prisoners in Texas. We will have signs to carry, media packets for any press that shows up, and flyers to give to passing motorists.
When: EVERY Wednesday in March from 11 AM until 1:30 PM. In Houston, meet at SHAPE Center, 3903 Almeda Road at 9 AM to share rides.
Where: In front of the Polunsky Unit, Livingston, Texas. (Being on the road is perfectly legal and we do not need a permit for this.)
Why: We have been asked by the men on Death Row, who are struggling in every way they can conceive, to help them by protesting at Polunsky.
Those of us on the outside must do what ever we can to stop the violence, brutality, isolation and cruel and unusual punishment being meted out by Warden Zeller and his officers. Also, Wednesday is "Media Day" and reporters visit from 1-3 PM. We want to see them and give them information about the illegal torture. We will be there at 11 AM to speak with Death Row visitors leaving after morning visitation.
