Tuesday May 25, 2004, 6:30 - 9:30 pm
UN Church Center
777 UN Plaza 44th St. & 1st Ave. 2nd Fl., NYCDuring the current war against the Iraqi people, the U.S. government has used more than 2200 tons of depleted uranium weapons. Depleted Uranium is both chemically toxic and radioactive, and has been linked to Gulf War Syndrome.
On Tuesday, May 25, at 6:30 pm, the Depleted Uranium Education Project will hold a forum, “Poison Dust,” exposing the dangers of this weapon. Physicists, physicians, veterans, and others will present conclusive evidence of the horrific effects of depleted uranium. Government documents will be presented to prove that the government knew well before the war that the uranium was dangerous, both to civilians and to military personnel who came in contact with the material.
Speakers will include: Former Attorney General Ramsey Clark; Juan Gonzalez, the Daily News reporter and co-host of Democracy Now who broke the recent story on U.S. soldiers contaminated during the latest war; Major Doug Rokke, former head of the U.S. Army DU Project; Dr. Michio Kaku, Professor of Physics, CUNY; members of the Vieques Support Campaign, who will address the U.S. use of depleted uranium in Puerto Rico; and GIs and veterans affected by depleted uranium.
