March 23 Meeting on Yugoslavia at Bard College

Mid-Hudson Activists:

There will be a meeting at Bard College March 23 that peace and social justice advocates must not miss.

One year ago this month, the U.S. and NATO began their 78-day bombardment of Yugoslavia. Now, because of sanctions, war damage to the civilian infrastructure, and the continuing U.S. destabilization campaign, the situation in Yugoslavia today is nothing short of horrendous. Occupied Kosovo is tense and dangerous. Many thousands of Serbs, Roma people and others have fled to escape from the KLA.

The anniversary of the war will be commemorated, and protested, Thursday evening March 23 at Bard College in Annandale, NY, in northern Dutchess.

The meeting is titled, "Was this war necessary? Of course not!" It starts at 7 p.m., at the Olin building, L.C. 115. The featured speaker is Sara Flounders, co-chair of the International Action Center, plus others. There’s also a documentary film: "NATO Targets." Organized by the Bard Student Labor Coalition, Mid-Hudson National People’s Campaign and the International Action Center For driving direction and other info: 914-255-5779 or Email jacdon@earthlink.net .

For a full year, we have listened to the distortions. Now, hear the truth about one more U.S. war that did not have to happen—a war promoted by White House fabrications, justified by falsehoods about Yugoslavia’s "refusal" to negotiate and replete with horror stories about mass killings and graves that turned out to be wild exaggerations. Why did the U.S. want this war? What really took place? And how about the role of NATO —the U.S.-run military arm of the IMF, WTO and World Bank.

We hope to see you March 23!
