Back from Yugoslavia, former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark will give an eyewitness report on US/NATO bombings and the growing anti-war opposition Saturday, April 3, 1:00 p.m. at PS 41 (116 W. 11th Street between 6 & 7 Ave.)

Video footage by award-winning videographer Gloria LaRiva will be shown.

Ramsey Clark and Gloria LaRiva of the International Action Center traveled to Yugoslavia from March 28 to April 1 in the middle of the U.S./NATO bombing campaign.

On Saturday, April 3, former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark will report on a fact-finding mission to Yugoslavia organized by the International Action Center. As NATO authorized the U.S. military to start bombing downtown Belgrade, a city of some 2 million people, Clark and Gloria LaRiva visited schools, factories and other facilities hit by bombs and cruise missiles, toured hospitals, and interviewed Yugoslav civilians and officials. Clark will present eyewitness testimony about the effects of the U.S./NATO bombing on the civilian population. Video footage, shot by award-winning videographer LaRiva, will be shown.

The fact-finding mission took place as demonstrators expanded their protests against the U.S./NATO bombings in cities throughout the United States and around the world. At a demonstration on Wednesday, March 31st in New York City at 5 p.m., 3,000 angry demonstrators marched from Grand Central Station to the New York Times. Demonstrators targeted the New York Times and other major media for falsely presenting the issues behind the U.S. bombing of Yugoslavia.

Today's demonstration, called by the International Action Center, followed a huge March 27 protest that drew 7,000 people who marched through Manhattan chanting "Stop the Bombing, Stop the War" and "Kosovo is Vietnam." On March 27, there were also demonstrations of 2,000 in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. Protesters also demonstrated in Sacramento, Boston, Columbus, Toledo, Seattle, Madison, and in other cities across the country and around the world

"The big business-dominated media is functioning as a virtual tool for the Pentagon propaganda machine," said Brian Becker. "The true U.S./NATO strategy is to dismember Yugoslavia and to bomb its people unless they passively submit to foreign occupation of their homeland."
