There are only 4 days left until the March 19 Troops Out Now demonstration.
Saturday, March 19, the second anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, is a world-wide day of protest. In New York City, the Troops Out Now Coalition, a broad coalition of antiwar, community, solidarity, and labor organizations will march from Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem to Central Park's East Meadow to demand the immediate, complete, and unconditional withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.
Groups from all over the eastern U.S. are organizing buses, vans, car caravans, and peace trains to travel to NYC for what promises to be a massive rally against the war. Activists are traveling from as far away as Maine, Georgia, and Ohio to demand an end to the occupation and money for human needs, not for war.
The Troops Out Now Rally will be broadcast live on WBAI, 99.5 FM. Bring your portable radios to the demonstration to help with sound propagation throughout the park, as we are expecting tens of thousands of marchers!
We need hundreds of volunteers to make this event a success. Please consider volunteering this week:
1) Join us for work sessions Thursday and Friday, from 12 Noon to 9 p.m. Activists are coming in from all over the country to help make placards, paint banners, and many other tasks. This is a great opportunity to meet great people and help make March 19 a success.
2) Help with setup. Meet us at East Meadow at 7 am or Marcus Garvey Park at 8 am on Saturday.
3) Help out at the demonstration. Look for a Troops Out Now table at the rally and find out how you can get involved.
