December 12th Movement, National Black United Front, National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (NCOBRA) have called for a national rally on the 115th anniversary of the leader of the Back for Africa movement, Marcus Garvey to demand long overdue reparations for the descendants of African slaves here and worldwide. An important lawsuit has been filed in New York and New Jersey to demand that corporations who profited from investments in the slave trade, pay reparations. The unpaid wages of African slaves is estimated today at a staggering $1.4 trillion based on the lawsuit. Any monies won from the lawsuit will go into a collective fund to help fund health care, education and housing for African Americans. The IAC along with the Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) coalition has endorsed the August 17th rally and wholeheartedly supports this important lawsuit. They are part and parcel of the same fight to continue the struggle for economic and political equality for Black people and other peoples of color. THE IAC WILL BE ORGANIZING TRANSPORTATION FOR AUGUST 17TH FROM NYC AND OTHER CITIES CALL 212-633-6646 OR VISIT THE IAC SITE AGAIN FOR MORE INFORMATION

Read "Reparations and Black Liberation" written by Monica Moorehead, a national leader of Millions for Mumia at http://millionsforreparations.com/lawsuit-ww.html :
Lawsuits have been filed in New York and New Jersey targeting corporations that profited from the slave trade. One, a class action lawsuit filed in Brooklyn, N.Y., names three companies: Fleet Boston Financial, Aetna and CSX. The lawsuit estimates that the wealth in the United States created by the unpaid wages of slave labor is today worth $1.5 trillion. Deadria Farmer-Paellman is the lead plaintiff and initiator of this suit. At a recent press conference, she stated, "My grandfather always talked about the 40 acres and a mule we were never given. These companies benefited from working, stealing and breeding our ancestors, and they should not be able to benefit from these horrendous acts."
