MARCH 20, 2004: Global Day of Action on the first anniversary of the U.S. bombing & invasion of Iraq

Mumia Abu-Jamal has recorded a special message for the March 20 protests called "End Occupations!" This message will be played at the NY, SF, Atlanta, Chicago and Philadelphia demos. If anyone in any part of the world where Mumia is known and loved is having a March 20 actvity and you would like to use a copy of Mumia's message, please click on or paste the url http://www.prisonradio.org/audio/mumia/maj_2_27_04endb.mp3

Momentum is growing for the March 20 Global Day of Action. The Call to Action issued by the March 20 National Coalition to "Bring the troops home now!," "End colonial occupation from Iraq to Palestine and everywhere!," "Money for jobs, education, healthcare and housing - Not war!" and "Stop the attacks on civil rights and civil liberties!" has received over 1,500 endorsements.

Major regional demonstrations will take place in midtown in New York City, Dolores Park in San Francisco, Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles, and at Michigan & Pearson in Chicago. In New York City, there are ongoing discussions between the March 20 National Coalition and the March 20 Mobilizing Committee, with the goal of having one large unified demonstration.

Buses, vans and car caravans are organizing people from across the East Coast, South, Midwest and West Coast to attend these regional demonstrations. Others are organizing local protests in cities and towns across the country. Volunteers across the country are handing out flyers, and putting up posters and stickers to help spread the word.

There are many ways that you can get involved in helping to make March 20 a success. You can help to spread the word, organize transportation to a regional demonstrations or organize a local demonstration in your city or on your campus.
