War…what is it good for? Absolutely nothing!
Unless you’re a corporate executive, oil boss, or pentagon general!

STOP BUSH’S WAR ON IRAQ
Money for Jobs, Education, & Healthcare—
Stop State Budget Cuts
NATIONAL MARCH & GRASSROOTS PEACE CONGRESS
Commemorate Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Saturday, January 18

The Bush administration and the Pentagon are dangerously close to launching a war against Iraq that will destroy the lives of millions of people both in Iraq and here at home. Bush pretends the war is to fight terrorism. The real motive is to secure the Middle East militarily, politically and economically for the big oil companies and billionaire bankers.

Oil and gas prices will skyrocket. Transportation costs for workers will go up. The cost of heat and utilities will force the poor to freeze this winter. Who will fight in this war? Not the sons and daughters of the rich. It will be our children who die and are maimed. Racism and repression will increase. The recent "Homeland Security Act" is a dangerous attack on civil and labor rights.

The Iraqi people have already suffered immensely. Sanctions have killed over 1.5 million people. Many more innocent people will lose their lives. The people of Iraq want peace just like we do. They have a right to determine their own government. If "regime change" is needed let it begin at home since President Bush was never fairly elected. He stole the election.

Yale economist, William Nordhaus, announced that the cost of the Iraq war would be close to $1.9 trillion. Not one cent will come from the pockets of big oil. Instead the money will be stolen from programs like social security and Medicare. The state budget deficits, not only in Maryland, but also in all the states could be erased, stopping cuts in social services and jobs.
