TRANSPORTATION, ORGANIZING AND RALLY DETAILS

Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001: 12 noon Protest Bush's Inauguration Civic Center Plaza, Grove & Larkin, near Civic Ctr. BART. Free the Black vote, in Florida and everywhere! Free Mumia Abu-Jamal! Down with the racist death penalty! Jobs & schools, NOT prisons and war! US out of Iraq, Palestine, Vieques, Colombia, Cuba .

In a sign of the growing momentum for the January 20 Counter- Inaugural in San Francisco, 80 people came to a mobilizers meeting  this past Saturday, Jan 6. It was the largest outreach meeting at the IAC  office in San Francisco since the early days of the Gulf War in 1991.

There was a short orientation that included a political analysis and organizing efforts and the CNN clip of Brian Becker on the Bernard Shaw interview was shown. The great majority of people that came then went out on paste-ups and leaflet distribution. 10,000 pieces got out. Because there were so many new people we got to areas in the East Bay and South Bay that we aren't often reached. There was a very favorable article written about the activities in the San Jose Mercury News, and KPFA-Pacifica radio broadcast the meeting that evening.

Yesterday the San Francisco chapter of the NAACP unanimously endorsed the mobilization at their monthly meeting, as well as SF Supervisor Matt Gonzales and a couple of other key organizations.
