AUGUST 30, 2006
Wednesday 6 – 9 pmUnited Nations Church Center • 777 UN Plaza • 44 St & 1st Ave, NYC
August 30th across from the UN is the beginning of an international effort to expose U.S./Israeli war crimes, crimes against peace and crimes against humanity. It is a historic opportunity to document the U.S./Israeli planning and preparation for all out war against all forms of popular resistance.
The world movement must demand accountability for the most serious crimes in violation of all international norms and standards, and of U.S. law. The state of Israel and the United States have conspired to shape through massive destruction a “New Middle East.” They have criminalized and demonized the heroic and desperate resistance of the Palestinian, Lebanese and Iraqi people to occupation.

Day after day, Israeli ‘Defense’ Forces continue to attack the Lebanese and Palestinian people in a relentless bombing campaign. This Israeli offensive is part of a continuing war for U.S. domination of the entire Middle East.
With deception and hypocrisy the Bush Administration has blocked all genuine efforts of a cease fire. They have arrogantly insisted on the total disarming of the Lebanese resistance even while they are rushing to re-supply and re-arm Israel. They continue to demand the overturn of the democratically elected Palestinian government and an end to all forms of Palestinian resistance to occupation.
The corporate media is criminally complicit in distorting this struggle. The Lebanese and Palestinian resistance movements are presented as terrorists, while massive Israeli terror is always called “self-defense.” The criminal character of the war, planned at the top levels of the Israeli government with the full support of the United States, is hidden.
On August 30 we are opening an International Campaign to Demand Accountability for U.S./Israeli War Crimes. While it is well understood around the world by millions of people, few people in the U.S. grasp the full horror of the destruction unleashed by Israel's latest invasion of Lebanon. Even less well understood is the 50-plus years of relentless war and expropriation of the Palestinian people.
JOIN Ramsey Clark, witnesses from Palestine and from Lebanon and many others in gathering a body of evidence that will include accounts of atrocities, reports from humanitarian organizations, new video images from besieged lands, along with assessments from experts in legal, medical and other fields.
Presentation of testimony will include video footage, expert witnesses, photo displays and written reports. The Campaign to Demand Accountability for U.S./Israeli War Crimes will be podcast and video streamed to reach a wider audience and to help others across the country on campuses, schools and community centers to organize similar events.
Research will be gathered in many areas to support the charges, including inhumane treatment of civilians and prisoners, and deliberate destruction of the Lebanese and Palestinian economy and infrastructure.
The presentation of evidence at public hearings will present an opportunity for many people to learn the true story of the Palestinian and Lebanese people and to understand their right to resist colonial occupation.

44th St. & 1st Ave, NYCMomentum for the Campaign for Accountability for U.S./Israeli War Crimes is building. The campaign has received thousands of endorsements from across the globe over the past weeks as the world learns more and more about the horrific crimes committed by the U.S. and Israel in Lebanon and Palestine.
A recently released report from Amnesty International accuses the Israeli Army of deliberately attacking civilian targets -- a crime under international law. Even the U.S. has been forced to respond to global outrage by announcing an "investigation" of Israeli use of cluster bombs against civilians. However, the U.S. has been pressured into conducting several investigations of this sort in previous decades, but this never stopped the flow of arms and military aid to Israel. And it never stopped the brutal crimes against the people of Palestine and Lebanon. The only force that will stop the U.S./Israeli crimes against humanity is a global peoples movement to demand justice.
We need your help to build launch this Campaign for Accountability. In just a few days, we will hold our initial session in New York City's U.N. Church Center. Over the next few months, we plan to assist and organize similar sessions across the U.S.--in schools, community centers, churches and mosques--to expose U.S./Israeli War Crimes. We need your help to do this. Please consider joining us in our initial session on August 30 in NYC. If you are unable to do so, contact us about organizing a local meeting. We also need help with the enormous costs of this campaign--renting meeting spaces, printing literature, producing multimedia presentations, etc. Please consider making a donation http://www.iacenter.org/acctabilitydonate.shtml to help build this campaign.
