NEW YORK CITY Protesters will gather at Times Square, Saturday, August 5, 2006, 4 P.M.

Protests are planned in over 100 cities including Washington D.C., Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Detroit, and Atlanta

An ad hoc coalition of over 200 organizations spear headed by the Troops Out Now Coalition are planning major nationwide protests over the weekend of August 5th to call for an immediate and unconditional end to the U.S/Israeli war against Lebanon. The biggest rally is set for Saturday August 5 in Times Square NYC at 4:00 PM

Protest are also planned for over 100 cities including Washington D.C, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland, Denver, Houston, and Detroit. One of the largest will be New York City. (Below is a partial list for contact info.)

An organizer of the rally planned for this Saturday in New York City's Time Square, Dustin Langley said, "The anti-war movement knows that the war against Lebanon and the West Bank are extensions of the war and occupation of Iraq. And now the movement has arrived at a crucial consensus that it must organize against the new war with the same vigor that it's organizing around Iraq".

Langley, a Navy veteran and leader in the Troops Out Now Coalition continued "on Saturday you are going to see many thousands of protesters pouring into 42nd Street and Broadway because they realize that the bombs that murdered those children in Qana the other day were supplied by the pentagon and they want this stopped.”

After a rally in Times Square on Saturday afternoon, thousands will march to Rockefeller Center for a closing rally. The list of organizations backing Saturday's protest include Troops Out Now Coalition; Al-Awda; Arab American Muslim Federation; Guyanese-American Workers United; Charles Barron, New York City Council; Chris Silvera, Chair National Teamsters Black Caucus; Chuck Turner, Boston City Council; Hilton Head for Peace; BAYAN; International Action Center and many others.
