IAPSCC Calls for Organized Movement Against Imperialist Aggression on Libya

March 19, 2011

Manik Mukherjee, General Secretary, International Anti-imperilist and People’s Solidarity Coordinating Committee (IAPSCC) has issued the following statement on the imperialist attack on Libya :

Blatantly violating the sovereignty of the country the imperialist powers led by USA, France and UK have launched attack on Libya with missiles and bombs from the sea and from air, killing and injuring Libyan civilian population. USA and its European allies used the United Nations as a rubber stamp to endorse their aggressive intention and pushed UN Security Council to adopt a resolution that amounts to a virtual declaration of war against the Libyan state and the people. It authorized the imperialists not only to enforce a no-fly zone , but sanctioned attacks on Libyan air defenses and strafing and bombing of ground forces. No matter what one feels about Colonel Gaddafi, or how one views the opposition forces opposing him, there can be no justification of this imperialist attack, which must be roundly condemned. This attack and war will devastate Libya and bring untold misery to the Libyan people, and at the same time pose grave danger to global peace and security. Posing as great protectors of democracy, the imperialist powers are talking of humanitarian intervention, but their real purpose is to establish control over oil in the Middle East and to install and prop up regimes that would follow their diktats. IAPSCC calls upon all progressive people of the world to organize united movements against the murderous acts of military intervention and war by the imperialist powers and force them to withdraw. It is the Libyan people alone who have the sovereign right to decide what regime they would have in their country.

Manik Mukherjee

General Secretary
