Friends:
This unjust and racist decision to deny clemency for Troy Davis is not unexpected but is still shocking. Please express your outrage over this blatant denial of justice in the ways that are available to you.
Call in to radio/tv shows, wear your Troy Davis shirts and buttons, use social media to blast the decision, organize a protest, make a sign - put it on your car, house, work place, campus -- do whatever you can do to show your support for Troy.
TONIGHT there are two gatherings that were pre-scheduled.
6pm, the FTP Movement and Malcolm X Grassroots Movement are calling for people to meet at Woodruff Park.
At 7pm, Georgians for an Alternative to the Death Penalty, NAACP and many others who have led the struggle for Troy will hold a protest rally at the State Capitol.
No one knows better than Troy Davis that the struggle for justice is long and hard. He has always asked his supporters to extend their activism to all the many others who are subjected to similar denials of fairness under this system of class and race bias.
The IAC urges all the millions of supporters of Troy Davis to turn your anger, disappointment and outrage to a firm resolve to challenge, resist and overcome all the injustices, inequalities and forms of discrimination endemic to this system.
We will keep you up-to-date as best we can on any other actions happening in response to this decision and Troy's execution date on Wednesday, Sept. 21.. |
