NYC: TUES. DEC. 16 - Emergency Mobilization Against Budget Cuts
A MESSAGE FROM BAIL OUT THE PEOPLE
MOVEMENT:
SOLIDARITY IS OUR STRONGEST WEAPON!
JOIN THE EMEGENCY MOBILIZATION AGAINST CUTBACKS
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2008, 4:00 PM
GOV. PATTERSON’S NYC OFFICE
633 3RD AVE. (AT 4ST STREET)
This Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 4pm, we urge you to join the students and faculty of
the City University of New York at a massive, emergency mobilization in front
of Governor Patterson’s office to protest proposed budget cuts and
tuition increases that will push students out of school, fire staff, and
further diminish the already crisis ridden quality of education at CUNY.
For more information on protest go to WWW.PSC-CUNY.ORG
On Tuesday, Governor Paterson is going to release his budget proposal. He will
be proposing the most devastating across the board cuts in every social need
vital to the well being of New Yorkers since the 1970’s.
But CUNY is not the only system under attack by the budget axe. Everything from
health care and legal services to public
transportation, along with the jobs of many public employees are
threatened.
Organize contingents from you union or organization to come to the emergency
protest on Tuesday. Bring banners and signs. Encourage your members to
come.
All of us rely on the services that we need government to provide. We are all
under attack. We should have to fight many separate battles against the same
threat. We will be stronger and more effective if we stand
together.
The powers that be, whether in Albany, city hall, or Washington must be made to
understand that people will not tolerate these devastating cuts, especially
when Wall Street is getting trillions of dollars in bail out money, and the
cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have surpassed the one trillion dollar
threshold.
The courageous workers at the Republic Window and Doors Company in
Chicago showed us that when stand together and fight back, that we can
win.
Let their example be an inspiration to all of us. Si Se
Puede!
