PRESS CONFERENCE IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE OF
EGYPT
5pm Friday February 4th 2011
Egyptian Consulate:
4929 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles
The attacks by plainclothes and paid agents working in tandem
with the military brass, who belong to the United States, make
demonstrations in solidarity with the Egyptian people here in the US more
urgent. Clearly, the Mubarak regime with complicity of the US is trying to set
up a situation where military can move in and impose a state of siege and smash
the popular protests.
We denounce all US aid and support to the Mubarak regime. The
images of young Egyptian protestors holding up tear gas canisters labeled
“made in USA” sums up our point.
In Just a few hours, the Egyptian People will gather in Tahrir
Square for their “Million Person March”, the members of the
International League of Peoples Struggles (ILPS) Los Angeles Chapter which
includes: BAYAN-USA and the International Action Center, together with other
organizations including Al-Awda, Union del Barrio; All African Peoples
Revolutionary Party. GC; Bail Out the People Movement; FIST - Fight Imperialism
Stand Together; Puerto Rican Alliance; Rosie Martinez, former SEIU 660 VP,
retiree SEIU Local 721; and Al-Awda will convene this press conference along
with local and international activists united in soldiarity with the Egyptian
people.
