National March for
JOBS
In Pittsburgh SUN. SEPT. 20 at G-20 Summit
Contact: Bail Out the People Movement -
323-306-6240 "Why am I organizing a bus to
Pittsburgh?"
Because we have no choice, it's a matter of
survival."
-- said by one of the many California activists building
California'sparticipation in the Jobs March at the G-20
Summit.

Please donate generously
to help with the cost of transportation, food and
lodging. California
is now reeling from the fourth largest unemployment rate in
the nation while legislators continue to cut basic services and foreclosures in
the state continue at a record pace. This is why the feeling of desperation, as
echoed by the previous statement, is felt by many and growing here. Why,
because it is now clear that the stimulus legislation passed by the U.S.
Congress in March has done little to stop the loss of jobs. In fact, things are
only getting worse. We must therefore, make the Global Week of Solidarity with
the Unemployed from September 19 through September 26, the week of the G20
Summit, have the greatest impact.
The Time is Now - It Won't Happen Unless You
Get Involved Although providing
transportation for especially unemployed workers across the country is an
expensive venture, we must make it happen. Why? A delegation of participants
who traveled great lengths and made stops along the way to highlight
California's growing jobless and homeless plight is decisive.
California's economy and its worsening trend has become a crystal ball
showing the bleak future for working people in the entire nation and an example
of how politicians refuse to address the needs of working and poor people and
instead cater to the needs of the super rich monopoly banks and corporations.
Buses and caravans to Pittsburgh would say in a loud clear voice:
CHANGE WILL ONLY COME WHEN WE MAKE IT - WHEN WE DEMAND IT!
All over the world in September eyes will be on
Pittsburgh, where the G20 countries will meet to consider what to do about the
biggest global economic crisis since the 1930s. The heads of governments,
finance ministers and central bankers that will be in Pittsburgh for the summit
hear and cater to the concerns of bankers and corporate executives all the
time. We must make them hear and respond to the demands of the millions of
people who have lost their jobs and their homes because of this crisis. We
therefore need your help filling the bus and sponsoring unemployed activists
who want to march in Pittsburgh. Would you or your organization want to sponsor
an unemployed worker for $150 or send a delegation? Call us right away at (323)
306-6240 for more information or to purchase tickets for the bus or
volunteer. Martin Luther King Jr. once called
"the second civil rights movement" the fight for the right to a job
or a guaranteed income." Dr. King dedicated the last year of his life to
planning a mass movement for jobs. Right now, the Bail
Out the People Movement, along with the United Electrical Workers union (UE),
United Steeloworkers Union (USW), Cynthia McKinney, Cindy Sheen and many other
community, labor, religious, and grassroots activists, wants to help dramatize
the crisis of joblessness, and the need for action both in the U.S. and
worldwide to the G20 summit. History, once again
validates Dr. King's dream for a jobs movement. This must be revived. No
doubt, King would have known that even an historic president like Barack Obama
cannot do alone, what it takes a movement to do.
