Dear Friends,
With just one week to go before the April 3 March on
Wall Street, we need your help to reach out across the metropolitan
area.
In the coming days, we are planning to reach out to college campuses, high
schools, churches, and communities throughout the NYC area. Here are some
high potential targets we want to reach:
- CHURCHES: some well-known pillars of peace and justice are
on board. Both House of the Lord Church on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn and
Riverside Church that borders the Upper West Side and Harlem have indicated
serious interest. But we want to reach neighborhood churches wherever possible.
For example, in the Bronx, we're approaching a whole network of pastors
mobilized against Yankee Stadium's ripoff of tax money. And we need to find
others. So try leafleting a local church this Sunday.
- COLLEGES: very encouraging signs emerged this week, with a
walkout at Hunter College, a mobilizers'

meeting at City College, and an organizers'
weekend at Hunter. Bail Out the People organizers are involved in these and
other campus struggles, including NYU, the New School, LaGuardia Community
College, Borough of Manhattan Community College, Brooklyn College, and others.
But we need to escalate our efforts -- students will mobilize, but they need
direct contact. We'll be sending people to campuses all week.
- HIGH SCHOOLS: several high schoolers have announced
ambitious plans to bring significant delegations to the Wall Street march. We
want to concentrate on schools close to Wall Street this week. Morning and
afternoon outreach teams will be in front of these schools Tuesday through
Thursday.
- UNITY: Bail Out the People and United For Peace &
Justice penned a
unity
statement last week for the
April 3-4 activities. The
significance of the statement is that the two days of protest, April 3rd and
4th, will not be seen as separate events but two

days of coordinated protests.
EXPECTATIONS: We don't really know what numbers to expect on either Friday
or Saturday - but we know that what we do in the next few days can be
decisive. Thousands of people have already expressed enthusiastic
interest in participating. Now, in the last week of organizing, we need to push
as hard as possible to maximize awareness, and translate interest into real
participation.
Please do whatever you can to help!
Also, Building a national march requires printing tens of thousands of
leaflets, posters, and stickers, as well as preparing placards and banners and
providing sound for the rally and march. Please consider making a
contribution to help with organizing expenses at

If you have any questions or want to find out more about how you can help,
please call 212-633-6646.
