SUNDAY, SEPT. 11 IN NEW YORK CITY -- 1 PM
THE UNITY & SOLIDARITY RALLY
WILL OPPOSE ISLAMOPHOBIA & ANTI-MUSLIM BIGOTRY
Extreme right-wing, racist forces — who last year whipped up a climate of racism against the Islamic Prayer Center at 51 Park Place — are planning to use the tenth anniversary of September 11 for another anti-Muslim hatefest.
Which means that once again, the larger anti-racist forces will be holding a Unity & Solidarity Rally in New York City on September 11, at 1 PM at Broadway and Park Place.
Last year the media claimed that the well financed, anti-mosque hate groups represented the views of a great majority of the population. Yet the constant free publicity given to the hate rally actually helped build 2010's Unity & Solidarity Rally, which vastly outnumbered the anti-Muslim forces.
After the terrorist attacks in Norway this year, it is more important than ever that we do not allow these racist hatemongers to be the only New York voices speaking to the media and to the world on 9/11.
Anders Breivik, the racist killer who carried out the Norway attacks, has quoted extensively from the writings of Pamela Geller of Stop Islamization of America and Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch – two organizations opposing the Islamic Prayer Space at 51 Park Place.
It is especially important to counter, in this period of economic crisis, the forces that want to blame immigrants and Muslims for the growing cutbacks in social services, rising unemployment and continuing wars. We will hold a rally, a march and a cultural exhibition.
