April 7 Rally for Palestinian Right to Return (NYC)

ACTION: RALLY TO DEFEND PALESTINIAN RIGHT TO RETURN

WHAT: Mass march and rally in New York City in liaison and solidarity with similar events in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Spain, Australia, Japan and Canada (Vancouver), and exhibits and lectures in Honk Kong and Holland.

WHEN: Noon Saturday 7 April 2001

WHERE: Protest in front of the Israeli Mission 43rd and 2nd from noon until 1.30 pm. At 1.30, march to Union Square begins. At 3 pm, rally at Union Square (South Plaza) until 5 pm. For map visit: http://al-awda.org/rally/map2.gif  

WHY: The assault on Palestinian refugee rights has intensified! The enemies of peace and justice are attempting to liquidate the right to return! To support the Intifada! To mark the 53rd anniversary of the Deir Yassin massacre! To celebrate the resilience and resistance of the Palestinian people! To continue the march home!

We call on people of good will to come to New York City from all over North America, to tell the world loudly and clearly that we support justice for Palestinians.

SPEAKERS: Confirmed speakers include Dr. Souheil Natour, Dr. Mazin  Al-Najjar, Muna Hamze, Dr. Sami el-Aryan, Rafael Cancel Miranda, IAP president Rafiq Jaber, Sarah Flounders, Fr. Makhlouf, Raeed Tayeh, Samia Halaby, son of Deir Yassin massacre survivors Abbas Hamidah, Arjan El-Fassed, and Elias Rashmawi. The rally will also include a statement by George Habash former Secretary General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. There will also be Palestinian cultural performances.
