Let's stand with the Palestinian people in the continuing U.S. corporate-backed war against the peoples of the Middle East.  The events of the last three weeks in the Middle East are a clarion call to our movement to make our voices clear, determined and loud.  The fact is that Israeli soldiers could not shoot and bomb Palestinian people without the hundreds of billions of dollars in aid that the Israeli regime receives from the U.S.

Even in the face of the lies and confusion that the corporate media deliberately propagates about the Middle East, our movement, after years of struggle and experience, has made the correct conclusions:  We know that supporting the just and courageous struggle of the Palestinian people does not equal anti-Semitism.  In essence the struggle of the Palestinian people for their rights is no different than the struggle of the South African people against apartheid, or the struggle of Native peoples here in the U.S. against the centuries-old campaign of racist genocide.

Demonstrations in solidarity with the Palestinian
struggle have taken place all over the U.S.
Pictured is a demonstration in San Francisco.

The struggle in the Middle East is not a war of Arab against Jew.  It is part of the worldwide struggle of poor and oppressed peoples against U.S. imperialism, globalization, domination, and against the regimes that serve the interests of the super rich.

If we stand together--as we did in Seattle against the WTO, and in Washington DC against the IMF and the World Bank, and at the other meetings of the globalizers in Melbourne and Prague--then it is consistent that we stand with the Palestinian people against the military machine and the institutions of oppression.

Precisely because the role of U.S. imperialism and militarism is so dominant in the Middle East, more than anywhere else, our movement in the U.S. must shoulder the main responsibility of exposing the U.S. role and fighting it.  The health, the future, the very existence of our movement for genuine world justice demands that we guard against being paralyzed by confusion, or intimidated into silence.

Let us gather in front of The New York Times on Friday, October 27 at 5 pm - and stand strongly and proudly with the oppressed Palestinian nation in the struggle. Download PDF flyer  More Information
