NEW REVELATIONS ON U.S. MASSACRES DURING KOREAN WAR

KOREAN AND AMERICAN REPRESENTATIVES CALL FOR ADMISSION, APOLOGY AND COMPENSATION FOR THE MASSACRES

PRESS CONFERENCE AND DEMONSTRATION

There will be a press conference at the NATIONAL PRESS CLUB, Friday, December 10, 1999, 10 AM in Washington DC. The Press Club is located at 529 14th St NW and will be held in the Murrow Room.

The press conference will feature Mr. Oh Jong Ryul, chairman of the National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification of Korea, and Mr. Ramsey Clark, former US Attorney General.

The National Alliance for Democracy and Reunification of Korea is the largest umbrella organization in South Korea working for democracy and reunification of the north and south. It includes labor, farmers, students, youth, women and religious organizations. Mr. Oh Jong Ryul is a former teacher who was ousted from his post and who has gained the respect of many Korean people for his courageous stand for democracy.

Mr. Ramsey Clark is the founder of the International Action Center which has spear headed work in the United States for peace and justice. The International Action Center has more recently initiated the International War Crimes Tribunal on U.S./NATO war crimes.

Following the press conference there will be a RALLY and DEMONSTRATION in front of the White House from 12 Noon to 1 PM at the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Reverend Kiyul Chung, spokesperson for the Congress for Korean Reunification, stated, "We will be calling for the U.S. government’s official admission and apology on the No Gun Ri massacre. We want compensation for the victims and their families. The No Gun Ri massacre is just the tip of the iceberg. We will disclose the extent of U.S. war crimes at this press conference and at our rally."

The press conference and demonstration are being called by the Congress for Korean Reunification, the International Action Center, the All Peoples Congress, and a number of other peace and civil rights groups.
