Protest at Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency

On Sep.30, 2003, impeaching the critical accident at JCO Co. Uranium Processing Plant in Tokaimura-village 4 years ago, a protest action in front of the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency was staged in the morning, and anti-nuclear meeting was held in the evening sponsored by citizen group. We, Anti-War Joint Action Committee took part in these actions.

By the critical accident at JCO, 2 workers in this plant were dead. Other workers and many residents living near the plant were exposed to radiation. As a "Blegion of death", workers were irrupted into this nuclear polluted plant. They were forced to dispose this critical accident and were exposed to radiation. Japanese nuclear electric power generation policy for its nuclear armament and sloppy operation systems in the Plant caused this accident. Participants pledged to struggle against nuclear and nuclear electric power generations.

Union will throw aside their class war and change from militant union to sweetheart union

On, Sep.28, 2003, the continued meeting of 72nd national general meeting of All Japan Prefectural and Municipal Workers Union (JICHIRO) was held. In this day, leaders of JICHIRO forced to vote "the statement in 21th century" (new general principles), which has already be voted down in this meeting. During the same meeting, a resubmission and vote of the same bill, which has been voted down, is an outrage against "the prohibition of double jeopardy" and democracy.

left: Distributing flyers

Why this bill has been voted down on Aug.28, at the beginning of this meeting? Because this bill of new general principles insistents "the labor-management cooperation ". It means this union will throw aside their class war and change from militant union to sweetheart union. Because this bill advocates "active creation of world peace" and "discussion of Japanese Constitution". It is the road to the dispatch of SDF (Japanese troops) for abroad and the amendment of the constitution. It is the way for the participation of workers into war work. So this bill was voted down in this meeting at this day a month ago. But, in a month from Aug.28, leaders of this union were intimidating delegates and doing vote-buying from them, collected votes. Trampling "the prohibition of double jeopardy" and democracy, they forced to vote the bill of new general principles. Against this outrage, workers of this union are angry and will stand up to new struggle. Stopping the road to system of the national mobilization and the participation of workers into war work, we will struggle together!

Workers Struggle against the Division and Privatization of National Railway of Japan / Japanese Workers and Students Plan Demonstrations against Occupation of Iraq and War on Korea

On Sep.13-14, 2003, the 71 ordinary national general meeting of National Railway Workers Union was held. Selling their souls to Koizumi government, leaders of this union decided to punish members of the Struggle Bodies of National Railway Workers Union by suspension of rights, who are struggling against the Division and Privatization of National Railway of Japan and calling for annulment of their dismissal consistently.

1. Impeach the betrayed leaders and police
2. Sit-in

In front of the venue, the headquarters of Social Democratic Party, riot police were mobilized by request of leaders of National Railway Workers Union. And in meeting Saketa Mituru was elected new president of this Union. Saketa is a person who let police arrest 7 national railway workers and one supporter of them in conspiracy. Saketa and leaders will go along the road to the self-destruction of National Railway Workers Union; they will play a game grabbing the fortune of this Union. This is a way for participation of workers in aggressive war.

They are betrayers against workers! Minion of imperialism! Down with them! Revive the struggling National Railway Workers Union! Against the Division and Privatization of National Railway!

Impeaching punishment against militant workers by Leaders of this Union, many workers sit-in around the venue, called for return to their working place.

Tokyo City Government Carries Out "Disaster Prevention Training"

On Sep.1, 2003, Tokyo city government carries out "disaster prevention training". But we think this training was not for disaster but for war. Because SDF (Japanese army) participated in this training with residents, they exercised piling sandbags training, spanning with a bridge training, triage training and autopsy, etc.

Tokyo city government forced about 20,000 residents to participate in this exercise. They worked under leading by army and police. Koizumi government aims to revive the system of national mobilization for war. 80 years ago this day (on Sep.1.1923), Great Kanto Earthquake struck, Japanese army and masses massacred Korean and Chinese people in Japan by racism propaganda of Japanese government. This massacre Became the way for invasive war by Japan. Now Japanese government is agitating the racism against North Korea. We are sure the important to struggle against racism and the policy for invasive war.

Under the slogan of "Against the exercise for war!" "Remember the pogrom against Korean and Chinese!" "Don't dispatch SDF to Iraq!" "Stop the war on North Korea!", we struggled the protest action and assembly, waged demonstration.

1. Armed cars for this exercise
2. Piling sandbag training

3. Mobilized residents

Protest State Port Inspection of North Korean ship in Japan

On Aug.25, 2003, morning, National Coordinating Center of Labor Unions of Niigata Prefecture and Anti-War Joint Action Committee waged demonstration against State Port Control Inspection of the North Korea ship Man Gyong Bong because State Port Control Inspection of the ship by Japanese government is nothing but racism against North Korea. It is the road to the war on North Korea. Extreme rightists already have shot bullets to the pro-Pyongyang General Association of Korean Residents in Japan of Niigata Prefecture.

We staged demonstration from the Niigata West Port, in which Man Gyong  Bong had arrived, to downtown Niigata city. We were appealing the slogans: “Against State Port Control Inspection of North Korea  ship Man Byong Bong”  “Stop economic sanction against North Korea!”  “Allow the coming and going right of Korean residents in Japan between North Korea and Japan.” “Impeach the shooting aimed Korean residents by extreme rights!“  “Stop the war on North Korea” And in the evening, we held an assembly for this struggle.
