Dominicanos y Haitianos exigen Justicia y Democracia / Dominicans and Haitians demand Justice and Democracy
Un comité de activistas comunales Haitianos y Dominicanos en la ciudad de Nueva York esta convocando a una manifestación frente al consulado dominicano en dicha ciudad reclamando que la voluntad popular del pueblo haitiano sea respetada y de repudio al golpe de estado perpetrado en Haití el pasado 29 de febrero. “como haitianos y dominicanos, nosotros entendemos las aspiraciones del pueblo haitiano y el pueblo dominicano por justicia y democracia en nuestra isla. también entendemos que cuando una parte de la isla sufre, la otra parte también sufre” dijo el grupo en un comunicado.
Voceros del comité dijeron que le harán entrega de una carta al cónsul general, dirigida el presidente dominicano Hipólito Mejia, en la cual exigirán que el gobierno dominicano cese todo tipo de apoyo logístico y militar a los golpistas y no reconozcan al gobierno golpista terrorista haitiano, el cese del hostigamiento, deportación y represión de haitianos radicados en Republica Dominicana, y el permiso de asilo político a todos los que así lo pidan, entre otras demandas.
La manifestación se llevara a cabo el viernes, 5 de marzo, a partir de la 4:30

Dominicans and Haitians demand Justice and Democracy
A committee composed of Haitian and Dominican community activists in NYC is calling for a demonstration in front of the Dominican Consulate in that city, demanding the will of the people of Haiti be respected and repudiating the coup perpetrated in Haiti last Sunday. “as Haitians and Dominicans, we understand the aspirations of our peoples for justice and democracy in our island. We also understand that when one part of the island suffers, so does the other part” said the group in a prepared statement.
Spokespersons for the group said that they have written a letter to Dominican president Hipólito Mejia, which they will give to the Dominican consul general for delivery, where they will ask among other things, that the Dominican government stops all type of logistical and military support to the terrorists that have taken control of Haiti, that it stops the harassment, repression and deportation of Haitians and in the Dominican Republic, and to grant political asylum to any Haitian who so requests.
