The Bush administration is stepping up its attacks on Cuba, pledging to tighten the U.S. blockade, cracking down on U.S. travelers to Cuba, and expanding the "Axis of Evil" to include Cuba. The U.S. government has jailed 5 Cuban patriots in federal prisons across the country. Their only crime was to defend Cuba from right-wing terrorist attacks. Cuba and many U.S. activists are saying NO to the Bush team's offensive and are countering the attacks.

Due to a number of events around the U.N. this week please read this orientation for the NYC Free the Five Committee meeting Thursday, Sept 12 at 777 UN Plaza, 44th St. & First Ave.
Due to the opening of the General Assembly at the UN and President Bush addressing the UN on Sept 12, it may be slow getting to the meeting. However, here's what you can do to make this important meeting a success.
1. Please attend the event. The people who are REALLY fighting terrorism are incarcerated in five federal prisons throughout the US. Show the Five Cuban Patriots solidarity on Sept 12 and come to our meeting.
2. There will be no car accessibility in the area. Please take mass transit to the event. The 17th Police Precinct has told us, should police stop pedestrian traffic that as long as people attending the meeting tell them why they are coming into the area that, there will be no problem.
3. The host of the meeting at 777 UN Plaza have told us that they have not been told of any restrictions and building is open.
