About the case of the five Cuban men who are unjustly
Imprisoned in the U.S. for preventing terrorism against the Cuban peopleMission Against Terror is a critically acclaimed Irish-Cuban film that debuted at Havana’s 26th Festival of New Latin American Cinema in December 2004. The film follows the case of five Cubans serving long sentences in U.S. jails for trying to prevent terrorist acts against the Cuban people. It also depicts the long history of violence against innocent Cubans by right-wing groups based in Miami and covertly supported by the U.S. government — violence that has claimed the lives of 3,500 Cubans and maimed 2,000 more.
One of these acts of violence took place right here in Queens. On Sept. 11, 1980, right-wing assassin Pedro Remon murdered Cuban diplomat Felix Garcia Rodriguez in his car on Queens Blvd. at 55th Street — the first time terrorists had used violence against the representative of a UN member country.
The Cuban Five (Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, René González and Antonio Guerrero) were investigating such terrorists in Miami to prevent further bloodshed. But when the information they gathered was turned over to the U.S. government, it was the Five — not the terrorists — who were arrested and imprisoned.
Mission Against Terror raises the question: why are people who fight terrorism imprisoned in the U.S. while known terrorists are allowed to walk the streets of Miami freely?

Misión Contra el Terror
sobre el caso de Los Cinco Cubanos quienes están injustamente
encarcelados en los EE. UU. por prevenir terrorismo contra el pueblo cubano.Misión contra el terror es un documental irlandés-cubano aclamado por críticos que debutó en el 26º Festival Internacional de Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano en la Habana en diciembre del 2004. El film sigue el caso de Los Cinco Cubanos que cumplen largas sentencias en cárceles estadounidenses por prevenir actos terroristas contra el pueblo cubano. También el documental muestra la larga historia de violencia contra cubanos inocentes por grupos ultra-derechistas asentados en Miami que han sido apoyados y sostenidos secretamente por el gobierno estadounidense — violencia que ha cobrado la vida de 3,500 cubanos y mutilado a otros 2,000.
Uno de esos actos de violencia ocurrió aquí en Queens el 11 de septiembre del 1980 cuando el asesino ultra-derechista Pedro Remón mató al diplomático cubano Félix García Rodríguez en su carro en el cruce del bulevar Queens y la calle 55. Esa fue la primera vez en que terroristas utilizaron violencia contra un representante de un país asociado con la ONU.
Los Cinco Cubanos (Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, René González y Antonio Guerrero) estaban investigando semejantes terroristas en Miami para evitar que se derrame más sangre, pero cuando la información que ellos compilaron fue entregada al gobierno estadounidense fueron ellos, Los Cincos — ¡y no los terroristas! — quienes fueron arrestados y encarcelados.
Misión contra el terror propone la siguiente pregunta: ¿Por qué en los EE. UU son encarceladas personas que combaten el terrorismo mientras que a terroristas reconocidos se les permite caminar libremente las calles de Miami?
