INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY STATEMENT OF THE FARC-EP [Spanish]

The sublime expression of women must be valued in its tenderness, both in their sacrifice for their children and for the causes of freedom. From these two elements the integrity of the human being comes about.
Spartan women loved and trained their children for combat. In the same way, the Amazon women in the south and in the Gaitana in Colombia did the same against the European invaders in America. During the wars of independence they gave displays of courage that lit the path of the victors, among them Manuelita Sáenz. Finally, in the great universal conflicts of all times they have left their stamp of heroism. It is not in vain that the most beautiful symbol of the French revolution and of freedom is a woman.
The imperialist assault on Marquetalia in 1964, the origin of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia People’s Army, met the resistance of the women guerrillas Miriam Narváez and Judith Grisales. In the revolutionary assault on July 26, 1953 on the Moncada garrison in Cuba, there were Melba Hernández and Aidé Santamaría.
The class confrontation against capitalist exploitation produced, and continues to produce, episodes in which valor and sacrifice for the cause of the oppressed reaches such a level of intensity that humanity cannot but recognize and commemorate them every year. International Women’s Day praises those tragic moments in which the determination assumes epic proportions. In those moments, women have never wavered one instant in assuming that determination, with their physical death if necessary, in the face of enemy arrogance.
Humanity, in its incessant search for spaces and new forms of the confrontation of the social classes, in its universal dimension and in the 21st century, has brought us the possibility to objectively understand the commitment of the proletarian women to our class in the socialist framework as well as their inhuman conditions under capitalism. The first case exists in the context of the sciences, technology and social equality; in the latter case, under the weight of neoliberalism, misery and discrimination.
In socialism, women are in the forefront of all fields of human labor, even fighting to defend the homeland at the highest military levels. Under capitalism, they are leaders in the various forms of class struggle, which extend from the struggles in the streets to its highest expression in the form of guerrilla war.
For this reason, we want to send our Bolivarian greetings to all guerrilla women fighters of the FARC-EP, and to the women of Colombia and the world. Let your cries of anger and protest continue to be heard against social injustice, wherever it may happen.

La expresión sublime de la mujer hay que valorarla en su ternura, en el grado de sacrificio por sus hijos y las causas libertarias. Entre estos dos elementos pareciera conjugarse la integridad del ser humano.
Las espartanas amaron y disciplinaron a sus hijos para el combate. De igual manera las amazonas en el sur y la Gaitana en Colombia, frente a los invasores europeos en América; durante las guerras de independencia dieron muestras del coraje que iluminó el camino de los vencedores, entre ellas Manuelita Sáenz. Y en fin, en las grandes confrontaciones universales de todos los tiempos han dejado su impronta de heroísmo. No en vano el más hermoso símbolo de la revolución francesa y de la libertad es la mujer.
El asalto imperialista a Marquetalia en 1964, origen de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia Ejército del pueblo, encontró resistencia en las guerrilleras Miriam Narváez y Judith Grisales; el asalto revolucionario el 26 de Julio de 1953 al Cuartel Moncada en Cuba, a Melba Hernández y Aidé Santamaría.
La confrontación de clases contra la explotación capitalista produjo y lo sigue haciendo, episodios en los cuales el valor y el grado de entrega a la causa de los oprimidos, reviste tal intensidad, que la humanidad no puede dejar de reconocerlos y conmemorarlos cada año. El día internacional de la mujer exalta esos momentos trágicos en los que la determinación asume contornos de epopeya y en los que la mujer no ha vacilado un sólo instante en rubricarlos con su muerte física, cuando ha sido necesaria, ante la arrogancia enemiga.
La humanidad en su incesante búsqueda de espacios y formas nuevas en la confrontación de las clases sociales, en su dimensión universal y en pleno siglo XXI, nos ha brindado la posibilidad de conocer objetivamente el compromiso de clase de la mujer proletaria en el socialismo y las condiciones infrahumanas de la misma en el capitalismo. En el primero en la ciencia, la técnica y la igualdad social, en el segundo bajo el peso del neoliberalismo, la miseria y la discriminación.
En el socialismo ocupando primeros puestos en las diversas expresiones del trabajo humano y disputando el derecho incluso a dirigir la defensa de la Patria, desde máximos escalones militares. En el capitalismo como líderes en las diversas formas de la lucha de clases, que va desde el combate callejero hasta su máxima expresión de guerra de guerrillas.
Por ello en el día de hoy hacemos llegar a todas las guerrilleras de las FARC-EP, y mujeres de Colombia y del Mundo, nuestro saludo bolivariano y que vuestro grito de ira y protesta siga escuchándose frente a la injusticia social donde quiera que ella se presente.
