22 de julio: Movilización mundial contra Coca Cola / 22nd of July: World wide mobilization against Coca Cola

Han transcurrido dos años desde el lanzamiento de la Campaña Mundial contra Coca Cola.

Muchas organizaciones sociales, defensoras de derechos humanos, colectivos de base y miles de hombres y mujeres concientes de la difícil situación que atraviesan los trabajadores de esta multinacional en Colombia, se han sumado a este torrente de dignidad que exige de la corporación estadounidense Verdad, justicia y reparación integral por los crímenes cometidos en su beneficio; que respete los derechos humanos y que no contamine más el planeta con los desechos de sus plantas de producción y con sus lemas y sus fondos engañosos de democracia y libertad. 

El 22 de julio fue declarado por el Foro Social Mundial realizado en Porto Alegre Brasil a comienzos del 2003, como el día mundial contra la política de Coca Cola.

Miles de actos públicos, movilizaciones, concentraciones, foros y conferencias realizadas en muchos rincones del planeta, han develado ante la comunidad internacional los horrores cometidos por y en beneficio de Coca Cola, no solo contra sus trabajadores sino contra las comunidades en Colombia y en otros países igualmente sojuzgados y empobrecidos por la multinacional. De la misma manera, hemos evidenciado la impunidad en que el estado mantiene los crímenes que a diario denunciamos.

Con la campaña mundial hemos fortalecido las luchas de resistencia del pueblo de Colombia contra la violencia y el saqueo de las multinacionales, de los monopolios nacionales y del estado fiel a los intereses de los poderosos.

Logramos mantener viva la organización sindical y hemos avanzado en la exigibilidad del respeto a nuestros derechos y a la vida; pero no hemos obtenido que Coca Cola mitigue el dolor de las víctimas y entregue los responsables de los crímenes para que sean juzgados y condenados.

Ha sido muy importante para este proceso de resistencia habernos encontrado con las comunidades de la India, de Chiapas en México, del Perú, de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela y de otros pueblos del mundo, que igualmente luchan contra la violencia de la multinacional.  Así hemos avanzado en la globalización de las luchas, de los sueños y de las esperanzas.

Alcanzar la Verdad, la justicia y la reparación integral de las víctimas es uno de los objetivos más relevantes de la Campaña. No hemos claudicado a este legítimo derecho, tampoco a abandonar nuestros anhelos de dignidad y bienestar.

Cada uno de ustedes ha transitado de la mano con nosotros estos dos años  exigiendo justicia; su entrañable apoyo y acompañamiento permanente nos permite decirles que seguimos de pie cada vez mas convencidos de que el futuro es nuestro y que construir el otro mundo posible es real y que hemos comenzado ya, fortaleciendo nuestros lazos de lucha, hermandad y solidaridad.

Coca Cola ha respondido a la campaña con nuevos atentados, con ofensivas de desprestigio internacional, con fondos económicos engañosos y con mensajes inmorales.  La multinacional quiere destruir nuestros anhelos de justicia y continuar con su paso arrasador de vidas y culturas.

Es urgente redoblar las acciones contra esta multinacional, por eso los invitamos a que el próximo 22 de julio en todos los rincones del mundo hagamos de este día una jornada de lucha por la vida, por la salvación y el bienestar de la humanidad.  

En cada movilización y concentración nuestros gritos de rebeldía y de  exigibilidad de la verdad deben retumbar y lograr que haya justicia y libertad.

Compañeros y compañeras los invitamos el 22 de julio próximo a realizar acciones que fortalezcan las luchas de resistencia contra la política de Coca Cola en el mundo.

Globalizando la lucha y la unidad... globalizamos la esperanza y la dignidad.

22nd of July: World wide mobilization against Coca Cola

Two years have passed since the launching of the world wide campaign against Coca Cola.

Many social organizations, human rights advocates, grass roots collectives and thousands of men and women who are aware of the difficult situation that the workers of this multinational in Colombia are going through have joined this torrent of dignity that demands of the US multinational, Truth, Justice and Full Reparations for the crimes that were committed in their behalf: that they respect human rights and stop polluting the planet with the waste from their production plants and their deceptive foundations and slogans of democracy and freedom.

The World Social Forum held in Porto Alegre Brazil at the beginning of 2003 declared the 22nd of July to be the international day against the policies of Coca Cola.

Thousands of public meetings, mobilizations, rallies, forums and conferences held in many parts of the world have revealed to the international community the horrors committed by and in favour of Coca Cola; not just against the workers but against the communities in Colombia and in other countries equally poor and subjugated by the multinational.  At the same time we have also seen the impunity in which the State maintains the crimes that we denounce on a daily basis.

With the world wide campaign we have strengthened the struggles of resistance of the Colombian people against the violence and plunder of the multinationals, the national monopolies and the State which is loyal to the interests of the powerful.

We managed to keep the union alive and we have made advances in our demands to respect our rights and our lives.  However, we have not made Coca Cola mitigate the pain of the victims or hand in those responsible for these crimes in order that they be judged and punished.

Meeting with the communities in India, Chiapas in Mexico, Peru, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and other peoples of the world who have fought against the violence of the multinational has been a very important part of this process.  Through this we have advanced in the globalization of the struggles, dreams and hopes.

One of the most relevant objectives of this campaign has been to obtain Truth, Justice and Full Reparations for the victims.  We have not wavered on this legitimate right nor have we abandoned our desires for dignity and well being.

Each one of you that has walked hand in hand with us in these last two years: your sincere support and permanent presence has allowed us to continue on each more convinced that the future is ours and that it is a real possibility to build that other world and that we have already begun, strengthening our links in struggle, fraternity and solidarity.

Coca Cola has responded to the campaign with new attacks, with new international offensives, with deceptive economic foundations and with immoral messages.  The multinational wishes to destroy our desire for justice and continues its destructive path through lives and cultures.

It is urgent that we redouble our efforts against this multinational.  This is why we are inviting everyone around the world to make the upcoming 22nd of July a day of struggle for the life, salvation and welfare of humanity.

In every mobilization and rally our cries of rebellion and our demands for truth should echo to achieve justice and freedom.

Brothers and Sisters we invite you to carry out activities on the upcoming 22nd of July to strengthen the struggles of resistance against the policies of Coca Cola in the world.

Globalizing the struggle and unity… we globalize hope and dignity.
